Twenty year old centremen Wade Masch scored the winner for the Victoria Cougars in Game 3 of the VIJHL South Island Division Final to cut the Panthers series lead to 2-1.

Game 3 goes Sunday night at 7:15 pm at the Archie Browning Arena in Esquimalt.

In the second period, Michael Colantone put home the winning goal after some great work by centremen Joe Densmore. There was a ton of action at both ends of the middle frame and big saves by the Panthers Brady Berisoff kept the Panthers in the lead. Cougars goaltender Max Pelzner was outstanding and would not allow the Panthers to increase their lead.

All three games have been very close with both teams struggling to find offence. In game 3 poor discipline on the part of Peninsula cost the team 3 power play goals by the Cougars. The game was close all the way through, with scores of 1-1 after 20 minutes, and 2-2 after 40 minutes. The game remained deadlocked until Masch tipped a Jimmy Carter point shot in for the winner.

The VIJHL North Division Final is two games in with the Comox Valley Capitals ahead of the Kerry Park Islanders 2-0. The series continues tonight in Kerry Park.
