Peninsula Panthers sweep Westshore Stingers to move on to the South Division Finals. Panthers took game 4 at Bear Mountain Arena 7-1 Saturday night in front of a pretty good size crowd. For the Stingers it is a season to forget, and they will look to rebuild for next year. For the Panthers they now will meet last years VIJHL Champions, the Victoria Cougars. This is a battle of the top two teams in the league this season, and should be a tough series for both clubs. Second round action gets underway Tuesday night March 3rd, at Panorama. Puck drops at 7:30 pm. Saturday night much like the games before seen the Panthers pepper the Stingers goalie, this time with a season high 70 shots. In all the Panthers out-shot the Stingers 247 to 59. They also outscored the Stingers 32 to 6 in the four games. Cats scoring came from all four lines in the first series, with Nick Chalecki leading the way with 4 goals and 6 assists for 10 points. Greg Simpson leads the club in goals with 6, and added 3 assists for 9 points. Carson Baillie is getting hot at the right time of year with 3 goals, and 6 helpers for 9 points in four games. There are four players averaging over two points a game, and seven more averaging a point or more a game. Panthers will need to continue to get contributions from all four lines in the next round.
