The Peninsula Panthers have acquired forward Cole Peterson (1991) from the Kerry Park Islanders in a three team deal announced Monday. The deal saw the Panthers acquiring Peterson while sending forward Tyrell Turgeon (1991) to the Fernie Ghostriders of the KIJHL. To complete the deal the Ghostriders sent forward Zach Fridella (1990) to the Kerry Park Islanders.
All three players in the deal are expected to play major roles with their new teams. Peterson and Turgeon were 4th and 7th overall in VIJHL scoring last season while Fridella scored 26 goals for the Ghostriders.
Peninsula is very excited to have Cole join the organization. The 19 year old winger scored 26 goals while adding 39 assists for 65 points and will bring a lot of skill to the Panthers lineup.
"We are very excited to be adding such a quality player to our lineup", noted Panthers GM/Head Coach Geoff Grimwood. "The move also allows Tyrell to play closer to home for a team that is going to host the Cyclone Taylor Cup. I think all three players and all three teams are really happy with the trade. On our end we felt we needed to add another pure goal scorer to our line-up and Cole fits the bill perfectly".
The entire Peninsula Panthers organization would like to thank Tyrell Turgeon for his contribution to the team and wish him nothing but success with his new team.
