The Peninsula Panthers Junior Hockey Club would like to announce the addition of four new players to the 2009-2010 roster.
LW Josh Bloomenthal(92) and D Kurtis Rumenovitch (92) have both been signed from the South Island Thunderbirds Major Midget team. Both are from Victoria and are the first players added to what is expected to be a very strong rookie class. Josh is a hardworking two-way forward while Kurtis will bring a physical presence to the blueline.
In two seperate deals the Panthers have also acquired RW Jason Diehl (89) from the Columbia Valley Rockies (KIJHL) and LW/D Adam Taylor (89) from the Fernie Ghostriders (KIJHL). Diehl is expected to be one of the premier goal scorers in the VIJHL and also brings size and toughness to the Panthers lineup. Taylor is a versatile player who is expected to play the wing bringing leadership, size, and strong forechecking.
GM/Head Coach Geoff Grimwood is pleased with the new additions and feels they will all play significant roles with the team. "Our main objective over the summer was to build a strong rookie class and bring in veteran players who could contribute leadership, character, and goalscoring ability. We want to be a very difficult team to play against and all of these players bring a lot of grit and skill to our lineup."
