Peninsula Panthers "Community First"

Five members of the Peninsula Panthers Hockey Club wandered into Keating Elementary School for a bit of floor hockey action on Tuesday morning. Joining them was Constable Glen Davies of the Central Saanich Police Service.

"Community First" is the long-time philosophy of the Peninsula Panthers Junior Hockey Club's and this was on display Monday afternoon at Kelset School and Tuesday morning at Keating Elementary School.

Nathan Looysen, Spencer Loverock, Conner Mowatt, Hunter Frampton and Torin O'Brien gave up some of their day on Tuesday to attend Keating Elementary with the Central Saanich Police Service to the delight of a bunch of happy students.  Constable Glen Davies, who is also heavily involved in Peninsula Minor Hockey Association, partnered with the Panthers in a day which had no downside.  The Panthers #19 Nathan Looysen, #7 Spencer Loverock, #55 Torin O'Brien, #15 Hunter Frampton and #24 Conner Mowatt played floor hockey with many of the students and then joined Cst. Davies going from class to class passing out schedules and interacting with the students.  Cst. Davies commented, "The boys did a great job today at Keating School representing the Peninsula Panthers and the students had a blast."

The previous day Looysen, Loverock, Tom Dakers, Alex Olson and Grayden Hohl were at Kelset Elementary playing floor hockey for two hours against five different classes of students.  "I watched the boys at our school today and they are great ambassadors for their team," said teacher Krista Hale.  Mrs. Hale's son Koby also plays with the Club and was planning on attending but a hand injury suffered in Friday's win against the Kerry Park Islanders left him at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital for follow-up to his Friday's stint there.

All students at both schools will be admitted free to Friday's game against the Oceanside Generals if the student is accompanied by an adult.  The game is set for 7:30 pm at the Panorama Recreation Centre.
