The Peninsula Panthers pulled the trigger on a deal Sunday evening in an attempt to bolster the blueline when they acquired 1996 Defenceman Brett Carpendale from the Westshore Wolves.

The Peninsula Panthers made a move after a loss in Oceanside on Sunday afternoon when they dealt 1995 Forward Jordan Law to the Westshore Wolves for 1996 Defenceman Brett Carpendale and future considerations.

The 18-year-old spoke with Pete Zubersky on Sunday evening after the trade had been finalized and indicated that he was thrilled to be joining the Panthers with an opportunity to get solid minutes.  He practiced with the Club on Monday evening and will be in action against his old squad on Wednesday evening when the Panthers travel to the Q-Centre to take on the Wolves.

"Jordan had asked to be moved and when we lost two defencemen in Spencer Loverock and Kyle Richardson on Friday night with a couple injuries, the deal made sense immediately," said Zubersky. "Jordan has been a real team player with the Panthers after we acquired his rights from the Victoria Cougars last season and we wish him all the best with the Wolves and thank him for his time here with our Club."

Zubersky explained the rationale behind the move.  "The Wolves have a couple injuries at Centre and both Carpendale and Law were looking to play more minutes.  We needed some help on the back end.  I have watched Brett for the last couple seasons both at the Major Midget level and here in the VIJHL and believe that he can accomplish much more in this League given an opportunity to do so.  And we will give him the opportunity to do just that.

"We are going through a tough start right now and it's really at times like these that you find out what your players are made of," continued the Panthers' owner.  "I want to have guys in our room that want to be here and Carpendale made it pretty clear that he fits into that camp when I made the deal.  Our practice on Monday night had some jump to it and that's telling me we have some character in our room.  I'm looking forward to when the Club turns this around and when we do, I believe Carpendale will be a big part of that."

The Panthers next home game is Friday night at the Panorama Recreation Centre when they face the visiting Kerry Park Islanders.
